Conflict Diamonds – What are they and is my Engagement Ring one?
A conflict diamond, blood diamond, dirty diamond or war diamond is a diamond mined in a war zone and sold usually clandestinely, in order to finance an insurgent, invading army’s efforts or for war-lord activity.
All Precious diamonds have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations resolutions.
We guarantee that our diamonds are conflict free based on personal knowledge and written guarantees provided by the supplier of our diamonds.
We are members of the Federation of Jewellery Manufacturers of Ireland (FJMI). The FJMI code of ethics insists on the sale of conflict-free diamonds.
“I personally guarantee that every Precious diamond has been ethically mined. We comply with all United Nations resolutions, the Kimberley Process and Patriot Act.”
“Giving customers full and transparent information is at the heart of Precious.”
“We fully support all efforts by diamond cutters and the media to raise awareness and influence behaviour.”
Eoin McDonnell, Precious
